Paris, June 13, 2013: GEOCONCEPT, a designer of geographic optimization technologies for businesses, today announced that AMS (Assistances Médicales Spécialisées), a rapidly-growing home healthcare provider, has just chosen its planning optimizer solution Opti-Time Global GeoScheduling to manage its nationwide mobile workforce in France. Initially, the solution will be provided to 100 technicians in charge of delivering and installing respiratory assistance equipment (AMS’ historic business) before being rolled out to the company’s other business lines by 2014.

AMS delivers treatment devices and medical equipment to patients’ homes as prescribed by doctors. Following buyouts by investment funds in 2008 and 2011, AMS has grown considerably and developed new expertise in medical assistance, including the supply of home IV treatment and diabetes treatment devices using external pumps. The firm currently employs 250 staff in 16 agencies throughout France (up from only 3 agencies in 2008!) and is experiencing revenue growth of between 20% and 30% per year.

Automating and optimizing itinerary planning to boost productivity

Faced with rapid growth in business and thus with constantly changing schedules, AMS sought a solution that would enable it to plan and optimise the journeys made by its travelling staff throughout France, in real time. The goal was to improve the productivity of mobile resources, honour delivery and deadline commitments, and provide quality of service to patients. In addition to delivering and installing respiratory equipment, technicians provide genuine service to patients by training them in the use of the medical equipment and offering personalized follow-up.

“In addition to a significant rise in the number of visits and optimization of staff time, the GEOCONCEPT solution will enable us to be more responsive and improve the service provided to patients, allowing us to cater for their requirements more specifically,” explained Guillaume Quetand, AMS’ Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. “Healthcare is a critical field, so we are delighted to have access to the very best tools in order to improve our productivity and maintain high levels of quality of service for our patients,” he added.

Since the contract was signed in May, there have been a number of rollout and sectorization phases to implement the solution for 100 travelling technicians by the end of 2013, in each of the firm’s agencies. Ultimately, the solution is expected to be applied to all of AMS’ mobile resources, including the itinerant nurses who work for other divisions of the company.
